The opening of the new St Bees School has entered an action-packed and exciting phase. The scaffolding encasing the school is gradually being taken down and the first classrooms are being carefully prepared. New educational materials, books and equipment have been ordered and so we are almost ready for our September launch date. A learning environment for the 21st century is being created!

A highly effective teaching team has been appointed and is now ready to receive the first pupils. Our teachers are passionate about their subjects and will provide academic strength as well as a culture of scholarship, character development and creativity. Innovative timetables and schemes of work have been written in preparation to fulfil our commitment to every one of our pupils: A unique learning experience. delivered in a caring, pastoral environment, which will prepare our children for the challenges of an ever more global world.

Over the course of the last year, the scale and focus of the school reopening project has crystalised. We have adapted our plans as we have come to understand the local and wider markets, and with this adaptation comes change. With the full support of the Board, and after leading the school team through this vital first period, Jeremy Hallows has accepted a post at Trent College, Nottingham from September 1st. Meanwhile, he will work to guarantee a smooth and effective handover of responsibility.

The Acting Head, Gareth Seddon, will continue to deliver the ambitions of this project. Gareth will be supported by Mike Abraham, an experienced Head who has previously and successfully opened schools, and who has joined the growing team at St Bees School. We will provide regular communications over the following months, as we head towards the start of the academic year with confidence.

Full Circle Education Group and the St Bees School Trust remain wholly committed to their shared vision of reopening this historic school and to building a partnership for the long term at St Bees School.
